SOS Reflection Prompts

A Mindset Reset

You don’t always need more motivation, discipline, or willpower. Sometimes you just need to pause.

These SOS reflection prompts are here for the moments when everything feels a bit much - when your energy is low, your to-do list feels heavy, or you’re on the brink of writing the whole day off. You don’t need to answer every question. Just read through and notice what lands.

This page is about slowing down, reducing self-criticism, and finding the next best step that actually supports you, not punishes you.

What might have made this harder to do today?

What’s one small thing I can do to help myself right now?

What would make it more enjoyable?

What would make tomorrow feel a little easier?

What advice would I give to a friend in this situation?

Were my expectations realistic today?

Am I being kind to myself or self critical?

What can I learn from this?

What would not doing it look like?

What’s one small thing that I’m proud of today?

What has helped me when I’ve felt like this in the past?

What would “good enough” look like today?

When to use these SOS prompts

These prompts can help if you’re:

  • Feeling overwhelmed or mentally exhausted
  • Stuck in all-or-nothing thinking
  • Low on motivation or energy
  • Being hard on yourself
  • Tempted to say “f*ck it” and give up on the day

They’re especially useful when you want to feel calmer, clearer, and more grounded — without needing to “fix” everything at once.
